The Cambodia & District 9790 Partners in Education Project – RAWCS Project 39 – has raised over $15,000 to support education for students in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Working in co-operation with Cambodia Rural Students Trust (CRST), a team of 17 Rotary Volunteers has been recruited to travel to Siem Reap in January 2025. The team includes 5 young University teaching students to experience first-hand the power of Rotary international community service as guests of our young host club, the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap. Rotary Club of Ivanhoe as the sponsoring club, has been partnered by other Rotary Clubs who have generously donated: including Pascoe Vale, Moreland, Eltham, Rutherglen, Heidelberg, Bellbridge Lake Hume & of course Ivanhoe.
The volunteer trip will provide community needs such as bicycles, solar lighting, and desks to support education for students in Siem Reap, one of the poorest regions of Cambodia. The team will assist teachers and mentor students where needed, to build skills and self-determination, guided by Rotaract Club of Siem Reap members. Further support to help us achieve “their” community goals would be gratefully received. We can’t wait to work with the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap in January 2025 and into the future with other D9790 Clubs.
